A new feature coming to the June 2020 (currently scheduled for June 30th) update of ArcGIS Online includes the ability to bulk transfer content. This means that you could select 1 or many users - and then migrate all of that content over to a new user.

Each of the users content comes over to the new user and gets organized as folders - to allow for easy organization of the migrated material.

It is good to see that whatever is behind this capability correctly handles items that are shared to Shared Update groups.

The regular "Change Ownership" functionality in My Content and Item Details throws an unexpected error when you try to change ownership of an item(s) that is shared to a Shared Update group, even when you are attempting to do it as an Administrative user. And, unfortunately, that bug does not seem to be fixed in the June 2020 release when I tested it on the Early Adopter site 😞

Peter Knoop‌ - Do you have bug # or anything that I could use to follow-up on this? I can follow-up to at least see what a status is.

Thanks Brian.

For those running into issues with items in groups with update capability, see this additional resource which walks through an example to automate the process with a script:
