Dear Esri team,
We would like to express our need on having Drone2map and ArcGIS Insights included as part of the Educational Site License. We have dozens of students with the need for both and it is truly cumbersome for our GIS team to have to support other platforms such as Tableau, PhotoScan, and Pix4D that are not complatible with the ArcGIS family.
The more Esri waits on this, the more instructional materials and users of these other products we get.
Hello Patricia and Dan, and thank you for sharing your concerns.
I'm happy to say Insights for ArcGIS already is included in the Education Site License Program - soon to be Education Institution License. We've been working on modernizing the Education Licensing Program for about a year, and new products such as ArcGIS Enterprise, GeoAnalytics Server, and Insights for ArcGIS have been added. The authorization files should be available through My Esri; please contact your Customer Service Representative if you need assistance.
Our goal is to include as many products as possible while also keeping the Institution/Site License Program affordable. In a small number of cases, there are constraints on pricing for a particular product. Rather than increase the costs for everyone, we choose to leave those products out of the Institution/Site License Program.
We were able to introduce an "Education" discount on individual licenses of Drone2Map earlier this year. I don't anticipate that we will be able to add it to the Institution/Site License Program in the near future; however, technology is always evolving and we are always trying to improve our service to you, so your feedback is invaluable for making the case for enhancements to the Education License Program.
Great news on Insights. It looks like that in addition to ArcGIS Server, Insights requires Portal for ArcGIS. Is it still the case that for higher education we are limited to 100 named users for Portal?
Hi Bruce, With Site LIcense modernization the number of named users will be consistent throughout the entire license. This means that you will have a certain number of named users for ArcGIS Online(Level 2), ArcGIS Enterprise(Level 2) Web and Mobile Apps, Desktop licenses(ArcGIS Pro & ArcMAP). I will inform @estherworker to reach out to you to give you more details pertaining to your current contract agreement #licensemodernization
in our University (Padua) we have the same needs regarding Drone2Map.
Waiting for good news in the next feature, it could be a good idea to make available, inside the Education Site License Program, some trials, as you did when Drone2Map was released. Otherwise, as Patricia noticed, we should move to other products for our research and teaching activities.
