Mapping a new path: Women of Color in GIS
Thursday, November 21, 2024
Join us during #GISweek for Mapping a new path: Women of Color in GIS Registration link: https://lnkd.in/gArrqb6v Esri is partnering with Ashley Lamb-Sinclair and the 2892 Miles to Go network to host a panel discussion on working in the GIS field as women of color. You'll also hear from an educator and student who completed the 2892 Miles To Go program this past year and how GIS made an impact in their experiences. We especially invite you, youth mappers and educators working with youth of color who are passionate about using their skills and gifts to advance equity and justice, to join us for a great conversation. We'll be discussing what you can do with GIS skills career-wise and also why we need more people from a variety of intersectional identities to be part of the GIS community. Hope to see you there! ❤️

No More Static JPGs!: Best Practices for Sharing and Presenting Your Maps
Tuesday, December 3, 2024
Zoom
The next GIS in Higher Education Chat is right around the corner. On December 3, 2024 at 9 a.m. (PT), we will host our next chat on the topic of “No More Static JPGs!: Best Practices for Sharing and Presenting Your Maps.” With the advent of web maps, maps are now interactive with detailed information that can be presented in pop-ups, symbology, and labels that can vary across multiple scales. Web maps can be used on mobile devices, and they reflect changes as soon as an author hits “update.” In many cases, the ways that we are still teaching about presenting spatial information, are almost as if all we still had were print maps. Join us for this month’s chat where we will be looking at best practices for presenting and sharing spatial information. Get Details and Register >>
