Virtual reality (VR) and the metaverse are on the precipice of reshaping society—and education. Join Esri as we discuss and demonstrate VR tools and data for use with GIS in your classrooms. We will focus on basic use and create workflows that support science and social studies educators. All software used is included in the no-cost ArcGIS for Schools Bundle.

Watch the webinar recording to learn about the following:

  • How to discover VR content in the 360 VR Gallery
  • How to create VR content in a web browser
  • Ideas for teaching with GIS-VR content

The ArcGIS 360 VR Experience is, in our opinion, by far one of the most exciting and innovative approaches from Esri. The possibilities to emerge the whole Earth as your virtual GIS reality experience with dedicated content and build up scenarios gives almost unlimited possibilities for good business cases, planning and education. We have dedicated a VR room for Virtual Research Environments and with ArcGIS 360 VR we have managed to setup a seamless workflow where the researchers and stakeholders can build their setup with ArcGIS Pro and almost immediately engage with local or global 3D content and also easy share among surveys.

The only outstanding issue with ArcGIS 360 VR is the limited functionality and inability to include feature information and other interactive relevant data. It could be interesting to see if in the future we will achieve the same capabilities as Google Earth VR, but with a more open and adapted GIS approach.
