Within academia, drone solutions are proving to be valuable data sources for teaching, research, and campus operations. Drones can produce many useful 2D (orthophotos, dynamic mosaics, and elevation products) and 3D (point clouds and textured meshes) products. They are widely used as inputs for raster analysis.

It can be easily set up from a web map with a set of bookmarks and fosters focused attention on specific themes or regions with each as a separate "frame".   This essay features two examples to help you consider the kinds of things you and your students might do with the ArcGIS Exhibit Instant App.

A new introduction to GIS open short course offers educators and students with a hands-on set of 10 engaging activities covering a variety of themes and scales.  The 10 activities are offered in a story map format so the instructions and the interactive web maps can be viewed side-by-side for rapid skill building and understanding.  The activities are aimed at university faculty and students new to GIS, but can be used at the secondary level as well.  It is my hope that these activities are useful and instructive and help you build skills and confidence in inquiry and problem solving with GIS.

This year 22 awesome university students from around the world were winners of the Esri Young Scholar Award. Many of them attended the International Users Conference in San Diego where they collected their award and met Jack Dangermond and many others of the more than 10000 attendees.
