Position Summary

The School of Geography and Development is seeking a full-time Instructional Specialist, Sr with geospatial skills that will be responsible for administrative tasks related to the Geographic Information Technology programs, as well as other school needs and help coordinate educational activities, labs, and projects related to the BS-GIST and MS-GIST.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to students in the MS-GIST in-person program during class periods. • Oversee the GIST webpage and social media sites. • Directs data gathering activities associated with educational materials, including design evaluation and analysis. • Helps to provide outreach support to recruit new students. • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of geographic information systems and remote sensing • Strong interpersonal skills • Ability to effectively communicate • Solid computer skills, including having worked with ArcGIS, LiDAR, WebGIS • Ability to manage and complete administrative tasks

Minimum Qualifications

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND one year of instructional or subject work experience; OR, five years of progressively responsible instructional or subject work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a related field • Proven teaching skills in GIS and remote sensing
