With Esri's recent roll-out of Insights to ArcGIS Online, everyone now has access to native-spatial data viz tools. With a few clicks of a mouse, anyone can create create impressive-looking dashboards that allow for intuitive maps and charts that interact with one another. However, the current documentation is somewhat thin and no user support community has yet had time to coalesce - finding help while developing with these new tools can be challenging.
This talk will take an honest look at the pros and cons of Insights and provide some best practices for how to integrate spatial and non-spatial data to create compelling visualizations. Additionally, Insights will be compared and contrasted with other industry-leading data visualization software, such as Tableau and Qlik, and libraries, such as D3, to help developers determine which approach works better in different situations.
