Please restore ArcScripts

Anyone trying to visit http://arcscripts.esri.com is redirected to ArcGIS Code Sharing - but the old content from ArcScripts has not been ported across.

I get that ArcScripts is no longer active, but this does not mean that all of the content on ArcScripts is useless. There is many YEARS' worth of user contributions on ArcScripts, which will be lost if this resource is removed.

Esri - can you please remove the redirect on http://arcscripts.esri.com and just include a note telling people to check ArcGIS Code Sharing for up-to-date code?

I am looking for old arcscripts for 'Projection Distortion Analaysis'.
That scripts calculate areal distortion and angular distortion of all projection provided in ArcGIS.

Author was Michael Braymen.

For you and anyone else coming across this thread, please see https://github.com/envygeo/arcscripts_archive for an attempt at recovering some of the old ArcScripts content.

Currently only 5 items have been archived so the most value of the project so far lies in the content index.

And I'm sorry to say, the script you're after Jae Jong is not in the collection yet. Perhaps your post will uncover something though!

It's not ArcScripts, but I came looking for http://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=93&f=982&t=55146 today when I was trying to help someone on an R6025 error, and it just led me to a front page.  I don't look for ArcScripts very often but it does worry me when any technical content posted to a community is lost to that community through broken links.

An analogy is someone looking for a manual on their 1970's Ford. They find the link to the manual online, but Ford have redirected all old links to Ford.com

Just because Ford don't sell 1970's cars any more, the old manual doesn't suddenly become useless.

I concur.... I cannot tell you how many times I have used old 'VBA' code as a reference guide in re-coding apps and tools to the new python/net.  Although the code is not valid ... the techniques and principles are!

Mind you... I rediscovered 'paper copies' after a similar transition many years ago.  A good piece of advice for the 'youngin's' that were born into the digital age.
