MonoTouch and Mono for Android are very popular amongst .NET developers which want to build applications for iOS and/or Android devices. By providing managed bindings for ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android and ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS, ESRI will give .NET developers easy way to incorporate ArcGIS technology in their Android/iOS applications. For a .NET-oriented companies this will greatly reduce costs to release Android/iOS versions of their ArcGIS smartphone applications. I think that ESRI should provide these bindings (and not Xamarin) because new versions of bindings must be released when new versions of ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android and/or ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS are released.
