Why image(ERDAS IMAGINE (.img)) File display white figure in ArcMap ?

I have 3.8GB image file without pyramid.When I open the file in the arcmap for the first time,
it ask to build pyramid.After building pyramid,the image file display white figure.I try to delete the pyramid file (*.rrd), then the image file display OK in the ArcMap.
     
      Why image(ERDAS IMAGINE (.img)) File display white figure in ArcMap with  pyramid (*.rrd)?

there probably should be an .ige file (since it is so large). Perhaps generate pyramids in ERDAS Imagine software itself (usually it is done as default).

Another option is to export the .img to say .tif (image file to TIF file format).
