What do people recommend as a solid non-proprietary vector data transfer format, based on actual experience?

I've only moved a petabye or two in ASCII with Well Known Text over
the past 18 years.  Of course, the most neutral formats take the most
work to import (there is no standard to describe a text file), so you'd be
best off reviewing requirements and intended uses before making a final
selection.
