The exercise one of the Database servers tutorials asks you to provide the name of the database server, which is composed by <server_name>\<instance_name>, where the server name is the name of the server on which SQL Server Express is installed and the instance name is the name of the SQL Server Express instance.

Where can I access this information?

Did you install SQLExpress and enable it for GDB Storage? If you have installed SQL Express on a server or desktop machine the Named instance would be <computer_you_installed_on>\SQLExpress. You need to make the connection first before you can create a GDB. Also, which tutorial are you following?

Hi,

Thank you very much for your fast response. I now have another problem: I

do not have the tutorial data. Do you have any suggestions on what to do

about this?

Thanks again,

Oriana.

I would look at this thread for instructions on obtaining the data from Esri for the 10.0 tutorial data.

ArcGIS 10 tutorial data is missing
