Can't see unique values in create features dialogue

I have assigned unique values to several of my feature classes, but none of these shows up in the Create Features dialogue.  I see the "feature template" but the individual templates are not present (e.g. Line is present but culvert, gate, and pond berm-all of which are subsets of "Line"-are not) in the property box it states that the feature will not draw.  If I look at the attribute table, it appears that I have created data; however, none appears on my map.  What am I missing here???

In my screen shot, I would like to create Tree, cotton wood cut, but I cannot add any data under Tree.  The only data that is editable is the data for which I have no differentiation.  I do not have all other values clicked.  I'm sure this is a simple fix, but I have not seen it addressed.  Thanks in advance.

Figured it out... It is a matter of first organizing feature templates, new template, selecting those I will work with, select, select, select... close and begin edit session.  Once upon a time I thought that ESRI's goal was eliminate mouse clicks?  The organizing feature templates step was not discussed in the tutorial I worked through, either with creating new feature template or editing feature templates.

It looks like the feature templates were created and then the symbology was changed to be unique values. That is generally why you see a template with a silver icon (rather than the actual symbol color) and the message that the symbol will not draw. Feature templates will automatically update if you make minor symbol edits, such as changing the color, but they will get out of sync with your layer if you change render types, such as going from single symbol to unique values. This is why it is a good idea to set up your symbols before you start editing.

So, to create features for your unique value types, you should delete the old silver feature templates, then create new ones with your current unique values symbols. Click the Organize Templates button at the top of the Create Features window and click New Template to go through the wizard to make new templates.

Glad you figured it out. The tutorial that comes with ArcGIS includes a section (exercise 1c) on the Organize Templates dialog box.
