Howdy.

Is it possible to connect to SDE from AutoCAD? We are running a SQL server database platform.

Thanks for any advice.

Robb

The modern way to connect to ArcGIS data in AutoCAD is through Esri's free ArcGIS for AutoCAD.  The current version supports AutoCAD 2013-2015.  The previous version that supports feature service editing for AutoCAD versions 2010-2012 is also still available.  It allows for the access and editing of data managed in ArcSDE through ArcGIS web feature services served out by instances of ArcGIS Server.  It has a host of other capabilities for working with ArcGIS data sets within the AutoCAD file (stored completely within the .DWG: read no need for shapefiles) supported by ArcGIS desktop when added to a map as well as created by when exporting ArcGIS to CAD files with the EXPORT TO CAD geoprocessing tool.  ArcGIS for AutoCAD has the ability to edit geodatabase information stored in ArcSDE over the web via ArcGIS web feature services.

Hi Robb

I don't think the standard AutoCAD can connect to SDE, but the AutoCAD Map3D does.

The Map3D is a GIS application.

wasn't there a ArcSDE CAD client add-on for 9.2 and 9.3? I cannot find anything more recent that that though, and would like to know if there was something for ArcSDE 10x

I was tried to connect to SDE from AutoCAD Map3D, because of the 32 and 64 bit issue, unable to establih the connection. Not heard about CAD client add-on required for SDE 10x.
