arcSDE Spatial View fields with Subtypes / domains showing as null

Hello-

I'm using SQL Server 2005 and ArcSDE 9.3.1 sp2. I've created a spatial view in which one of the tables has two fields in which one is a subtype/domains and the other has domains.  These two fields appear fine as a table in the SDE, however when I use them in a spatial view these two fields show as Null values for all records, while all the other fields that don't have domains or subtypes appear fine.

Is there a trick to get subtypes and domains to appear in spatial views?
