Please certify Oracle 19.4 an up for geodatabase use with ArcGIS Desktop 10.7.1.

SLES 15 support only Oracle 19.4 and up

thanks

Addendum:
Actually, the ArcGIS Server would be more important to me.
Is there support for ArcGIS Server 10.8.1 or 10.9?

Yes. Have you test it with 19.7?

Martijnde_Boer

so far it works fine with oracle 19.8

esri does support oracle 19.8 but they have only tested version 19.3

We support the base (tested when released) versions which are listed (https://desktop.arcgis.com/en/system-requirements/latest/database-requirements-oracle.htm). That is the base version that is support, then it falls under the Supported Environment Policy: https://support.esri.com/en/white-paper/3521

"... As a part of our normal work, we do test our software releases on select environments. However, due to the large number of possible environments, we cannot directly test all of them. An environment is certified as supported when the product's quality assurance and quality certification (QA/QC) tests run successfully.

Non-certification of an environment does not necessarily mean it is not supported. That environment is supported if it meets or exceeds the base build environment and that environment is known to not fail. Environments that are known to not work are usually documented on the product support page as soon as that information is available...."

I would think that it should be fine at 10.7.1 with Oracle 19.4, as long as you installed the ArcGIS (Desktop, Engine, Server) Support for Oracle 19c Patch

@George_Thompson

Thank you George Thompson.
The support in ArcGIS Server would actually be more important to me.
ArcGIS Server 10.8.1 came out much later than Oracle 19.4.
Since the database requirements explicitly only contain Oracle 19.3 and there is no indication that other versions are also supported, our IT service provider refuses.

Does ArcGIS Server 10.9 receive other database requierments?

George_Thompson

The support listed above is for all ArcGIS releases at 10.8.1, including ArcGIS Server.

Oracle 19.3 was the tested / certified version for the 10.8.1 release. As the docs state, we support versions newer, i.e. Oracle 19.4, unless otherwise stated.

As for supported versions at 10.9, we would have to wait till it is publicly available later this year.

I do not see us going back and certifying a newer version on an older release. Hope this helps.

@George_Thompson

Thanks for the quick answers. It helps.

Martijnde_Boer

With 10.9 it seems to be tested only on Oracle 19.3.0.x ,  Oracle dont release 19.3.0.x but 19.x

current release 19.10.0.0 (19.10.0.0.210119)

Thanks, I had already found that too.
But why does Oracle 18c list 18.3 and 18.4 and not only 18.3?

Martijnde_Boer

check for engineered systems -> https://docs.oracle.com/en/engineered-systems/oracle-database-appliance/index.html
