Which would be the best PCS for the Myanmar (spanning across 2 UTM Zones - 46 and 47N) to minimize distortion when calculating distances in km or miles across the whole country? Would a custom azimuthal equidistant centered in the middle of the country work?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Best,

Alessandro

These are your choices according to EPSG.io:

I know this doesn't answer your question as according to EPSG Myanmar has not got a "national CRS"...however I have read about a Myanmar 2000 datum which I understand uses the Everest 1830 (1937 Adjustment) ellipsoid (EPSG 7015) the datum definitions etc are found in the presentation linked to...Once you have that datum and ellipsoid set up you can try out the suggested azimuthal equidistant centered in the middle of the country, otherwise try out a conformal projection from a central meridian running through the country.
