The value: Members have control over which users are able to send them Direct Messages, mitigating unwanted communications while permitting those that are desired.
How to do it: There are two simple methods:
(1) Open your Direct Messages via the envelope icon in the topmost navigation, then open a message from the user you’re choosing to block. Finally, select the vertical ellipsis beside the trash bin icon and choose “Ignore User” from the available options.
(2) Open a user’s profile page by clicking on their username (can be found in a Member Search). Click the “Block User” button from the Contact Me widget on the right-hand side of the profile.
Process for blocking a user via your Esri Community inbox.
Keep in mind: Blocking a user prevents you from receiving Direct Messages they send to your account. They are not prevented from sending a message, nor do they receive a notification that they have been blocked or that their message will not be received.
Blocking a user does not prevent you from seeing messages they post in areas of Esri Community you have access to.
You can unblock a user by following steps in this Help Document: How to Block Users.
