We would like to announce the winners of the first 2015 Semi-Annual GeoNet Contest held from February 1st - June 30th. This contest runs during the first and second half of the year. There is also a year long contest for our grand prizes. You can read more on this in Get involved in the new 2015 GeoNet Contest.

There are many users that help encourage discussions, provide answers, and share knowledge throughout the community. They dedicate their time to assisting others so that they can enhance their experience with GIS and Esri products. We would like to especially thank a few of our members who have excelled as our top participants.

Our winners will be receiving a variety of prizes as outlined in the 2015 GeoNet Contest Prizes. Some of these prizes include Amazon gift cards, Esri Certification Exams, ArcGIS Home Use Licenses, Esri Virtual Training, and Esri Press books.

Within the community they will be awarded the 2015 MVP Badge that they can display on their profile and in their Me in Three. They will also get an "MVP Champion" icon beside their name as seen below:

Congrats to all the winners!  Apparently I was just outside the top 10 (once you excluded ESRI staff).  Curious where I actually ended up.

First of all congratulations to all of you!

Since I work for Esri (Colombia), I'm not among the winners (I ended 4th), but that was something I knew from the start. The reason you don't see the Esri icon next to my user account is that I started to contribute to the forums long before I joined Esri. I haven't changed my account for 2 reasons, the accumulated points I have up to now (don't want to start over) and the contributions I make, I do (mostly) in my free time. I don't get any compensation from Esri for doing this.

I have always said that contributing to GeoNet (and the former forums) has been an experience in which I have learned a lot. However, I feel somehow a bit disappointed that some of use that ended up there don't get the recognition they deserve IMHO...

edit: the icon would have been nice...

If it helps at all.....we all appreciate those of you that work for esri and still contribute to the forums.  fwiw.

Isn't it possible to change your email/account settings without losing the points? I think I'd rather have an ESRI globe than the MVP icon, but maybe that's just me

Congratulations Everyone!!!

I agree with Xander Bakker. Even I am using my personal id for GeoNet as I want to contribute and learn from the forum even when I am not a part of Esri (India). It's great to have a bunch of you GeoGeeks in the forum, especially the non-Esri contributors.

Thanks,

Jay

Hi Jayanta Poddar , you finished right behind me. I am a bit surprised that you are not in the list of winners. Do you know what happened in your case?

XanderBakker

Hi Sephe Fox , for me it is the other way around. Since my activities on GeoNet are not part of my (official) activities for Esri, I prefer to keep that separated. I'm sure it would be possible, but in case that I would no longer work for Esri, I'm sure I will still keep working with ArcGIS, since it is the only thing I know (and the only thing I would be interested to work in)...

What I'm saying is... I wouldn't mind a job with esri I can totally see how you may want to keep your work life separate from your online life though, if you are not posting in an official capacity.

You work for esri too, Jay? I had no idea. All these secret esri employees!

Congratulations to the winners! And a big Thank You! And thank you to everyone else who participates around here!

I try to contribute when I believe I have something worth saying or an answer to a question. Which isn't as often as I'd like. I also try to get an idea of what kinds of things you guys are doing and where you're running into issues in the parts of the softwares I deal with. We do listen, even if it doesn't always seem like it. You all are the reason we are here.

Ditto. Congrats to all the winners and especially to those esri folks that receive no reward for there diligent efforts to help this thriving community.

Agreed. I don't know if they are required to help, but the effort is awesome and you just can't require that.

Well, it was never about the icon or a badge for me. It started out as something to keep myself occupied during my spare time and now I try and answer when I can. But surely I have learnt a lot more outside my area of interest, than I could by studying myself.

The Badges or the Icons were a way to quickly get an idea about how 'Senior' the member was and how many Correct answers they have already provided(it used to show in the earlier Forums). I believe, this gave an assurance of some sort to the member seeking an answer.

I had my apprehensions about GeoNet in the beginning, but have slowly gotten used to it now and kinda like it more than the previous forums.

Everything being said, Congratulations to the winners and Best of Luck to others!

Well done! I'm a huge geonet fan. It's a great resource for people working with Esri software.

Congratulations  to all the winners!

Xander, I totally agree with you. I use to be a part of Esri (Redlands) tech support but chose to use my personal id just to avoid any confusions. To be honest I created this new Id after leaving Esri support. Though I may not be a part of Esri anymore but I still love working with ArcGIS and specially Esri Business Analyst applications.
