When we run a demographic analysis we look at multiple office sites, and in general we use a three mile ring as the assessment area. When the rings overlap (meaning the offices are within 3 miles of each other) we will combine the sites and consider them a combined market. We are currently combining the sites by outlining the 3 mile rings using the polygon tool. This can be time consuming depending on the number of offices that overlap and how accurately the outline is created (the further zoomed out the faster it can be done but the less accurate the polygon will be and vice versa).

Does anyone know of an easier way to accurately create a "market area" from multiple rings created from different offices.

Thanks.

Carrie,

Your current workflow is the best that can be done in the current release.  There is no functionality as of yet that that allows one to merge rings (polygons) in Business Analyst Online.  The Business Analyst Desktop product is where this would be very easy to perform.  It also comes with tool called Territory Design that is great tool at create/managing territories.

Thanks Jason,

I figured this was the easiest way for the current BAO Online version but wanted to see if anyone else had ever tried another way.

I did find that after reviewing the NEW BAO Online version you can combine the sites by holding in the "Ctrl" key and selecting the sites. This will provided you with an option to combine the sites. This is a great new feature and a huge time saver.

Thanks again for your response.

Carrie,

Nice catch on the new BAO version. That is definitely a good new feature that I forgot about.
