Bug? Adding Images from a network drive not visible to other members of my organization.

I have created a Story Map using the Cascade template. I have added an Immersive Page and clicked the Add media button. I added an image (on a network drive) using the 'Browse to an image' button. It loaded successfully. Based on what I can see in the console the image is uploaded to our organization account on ArcGIS online. I shared the app to a group of users.

When those users attempt to edit the app the image I added does not get loaded. It just shows the animated loading gif.

Not sure if this is a bug or just a workflow issue.

Hi Cameron,

Sorry you are having trouble collaborating with others on your story map.

I'm not able to reproduce the issue you described. Is it possible for your to share your app publicly so I can try to see what's going on?

Also a few questions:

  • What role are you and your colleagues assigned to?
  • When you shared the story with the group did you choose to share it with Access and update capabilities?

I did figure out a workaround. If I use a URL to the image then it is visible and editable by other users (with both Admin and Publisher roles). Not sure why I cannot just add an image (via drop an drag from a mapped network drive) but the workaround will do for now.

I am having the same issue. I was planning to do the same work around, but I currently use Dropbox and their hosting service is going away next year, so that won't work long term. I am also having trouble with mine being visible to the public even though everything has been shared. It is visible for a little while, but then it prompts the user to log in. But, here is the link: https://asu.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Cascade/index.html?appid=b57e429b9f034834a95c02b68067bef8

I tried your app and it did ask me to login but only when I moved to an area in the Cascade where there was a map. While the Cascade Story Map is shared maybe the maps are not...

Melissa -- Sorry you are having trouble sharing your story. After the next ArcGIS Online update, which will be available next Wednesday, Sept 14, Cascade stories can be scanned and checked for errors using My Stories on the story maps website. That should help diagnose and fix the issue you are experiencing.

Cameron -- In the next update we also will fix an issue with images not sharing properly, so please try your original workflow again after Wednesday and let me know if you still encounter the same problem.

Thanks, Owen!  I hope everything gets fixed with the updates.  All of my content is shared publicly, so I am at a loss. I hope that the My Stories can help me identify the issue.
