Capturing along road by ArcPad while car is moving,

Is it possible to capture a long road by ArcPad (installed in Leica CS25) automatically while a ???car??? is moving?

For example, I want my GPS device using ArcPad to capture the data from point A to point B while the car is moving without the need to click buttons at vertices?

Thank you

Best

In ArcPad go to GPS Preferences>Capture tab. In the Streaming section, set your position or distance interval to something that makes sense based on your approximate speed while collecting the road data, for example, maybe position = 3, distance = 50 feet. Then when you activate the feature class to be collected, and select it as a polyline, simply use the Capture Vertices GPS collection tool. Based on your streaming settings the unit will automatically collect a vertices every three seconds (if a 1Hz machine) or every 50 feet.

Does your device support "tracks"?

Many thanks Dan for the help,

Could you please elaborate more regarding ??tracks??

gps units (at least hand-helds) can record: waypoints (single point locations recorded by the user); tracks (sequential waypoints recorded at incremental distances and times) and routes (formed from waypoints not necessarily in sequential order or including all waypoints)

Thank you Dan and Brett for the help. This is very useful.

Then all what I need to do is to click the ??capture vertices? icon where vertices will be captured automatically according the definition of the ??streaming? (for example on point in each 10 meters) in the GPS preferences.
