For ArcPad 10, using ArcPad on the Desktop to create new shapefiles, ArcStudio to tailor the fields in the shapefiles, and the "Get Data For ArcPad" wizard from the ArcPad Data Manager toolbar in ArcMap 10 to create a *.CAB file:  After pulling the *.CAB file over to the GPS device (Magellan MM6) and installing the CAB file, the form dimensions (width&heigth), the number of and layout of the "PAGES" and the choices of "Controls" appearing for collected features in ArcPad do not match the pre-installed *.apl files for their respective shapefiles.  The number of and order of the fields are correct.  I'm looking for variables or settings leading to this result and could use suggestions.  Im pulling the files from a file geodatabase and the coordinate systems of all files and map layer are consistent.

Hi, during your export, did you specify that you wanted to use your own customization (ie. apl files created in Studio)? If not, see where the cursor is in the enclosed jpeg.

Rolf,
Thanks for the suggestion.  I had to go back and re-run to be certain, but yes, the "select existing forms/scripts" checkbox was checked for the files to be exported as editable and for which *.apl files had been created.
Thanks again

Strange, by clicking in that box you should be prompted for a path to your .apl file.

Could it be that your apl file contains errors so ArcPad ignores it and opens up the default form?

Have you tried to open the axf file in Studio and looked at the layer definition there as in the enclosed example? Right click the feature layer and choose Edit Layer Definition
