Hello experts,

when trying to sign my ArcMap-Addin with the ESRISingAddIn.exe-Tool I receive the following message

---------------------------

Esri Digital Sign Add-In Utility

---------------------------

MS.Internal.IO.Packaging.CustomSignedXml.GetNetFxSecurityRegistryValue(System.String, Int64)

---------------------------

OK

---------------------------

followed by

---------------------------

Esri Digital Sign Add-In Utility

---------------------------

Failed to sign the add-in.

---------------------------

OK

---------------------------

Do you have any idea what could be the source of this problem.

Everything went fine with version 10.1 before, after upgrading to version 10.2.2 this error occurred.

The machine had ArcMap 10.1 and ArcObjects SDK before, both where updated to version 10.2.2.

OS is Windows 7 SP1 x64.

Any hint will be appreciated.

Thanks in advanceFossi

Hello

We hit this problem recently as well. After hours of investigating, we found out that it was a Windows Security Update that caused it:

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-035 - Important

If you un-install this update (find the update number corresponding to your Windows version), the signing tool should work again.

Regards

Tung

Oh dear, hadn't thought about windows updates at all.

Yes, after removing KB3135988, signing works fine again.

Thank you so much, you saved my day!

The update:

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-035 - Important

doesn't give  only a problem with the signing of an add-in but also that the signature isn't valid.

After install this update, our add-in gives this error message:

This is an important problem for us because we can not ask our customers to ignore some windows updates.

I hope, someone has a better solution for this problem

Thanks,

Harm
