Map Series with single polygons (and hide others of same layer)

I want to create a map series of individually owned areas where the areas of other owners aren't shown. The layers contain all areas and there is a column with the specific owners (so each row is one owner). As the areas of diffrent owners are often close to each other the other areas should not show in the map layout.

Is there a better way than making a definition query for each owner manually?

Picture shows one example of individually owned properties.

One way or another, ArcGIS needs to know what to display/render, especially if there can be more than 1-owner within the same viewing extent.  As you stated in your post, a definition query and/or category-symbology are a couple of ways to do this.  Maybe this can be done via data driven pages? Data Driven Pages allow you to quickly and easily create a series of layout pages from a single map document.  I have not done Data Driven Pages.

Thanks for your concerns. This is actually what I have tried, but sadly there is no option to hide other features of the same layer when creating a map series. So I guess I'll do it manually with definition queries.
