esri arcgis desktop 10.5.1 decimal precision in attribute table different than in the source dbf file

when I open an attribute table in ArcMap 10.5.1 the decimal precision is different than in the source dbf file. I see only 3 places when the dbf file has 6 places.

You can right-click on the field and change the display... The display doesn't represent the precision/scale just how it appears.

click on the .... after the number format line.  All the precision and scale is showing is the actual numeric format, not how it will show

I recommend working with FGDB, the problem is solved
