Our mobile workers had asked about being able to attach photos to assignments in Workforce and we implemented Collector to allow for them to do so. However, it takes several taps to do so and isn't the most intuitive workflow. It would be much simpler if there was the ability to attach photos directly in the mobile app.
I read in their planned improvements section that this is something they want to add. I agree opening collector within that app is counterproductive. We should be reaching for simplicity and not requiring users to open 3 to 4 different apps.
This has been added in our latest release for Mobile in December of 2017.
