WAB widget and configurable apps for popups on the side panel

It would be really useful to have the ability to have the popup information on the side panel rather than on the map itself. There are instances that you do not want the popup blocking the map.

I know that there is a customized widget that does this that can be done in WAB Developer Edition, but this makes the deployment of the app more complicated, especially if you don't have your own web server.

Yes, this would be a great feature in WAB. We have customers with geographically quite dense network data and the popup inside the map isn't good for this purpose. The side-panel-popup is already implemented in the Basic Viewer template - we need it in WAB as well 🙂

Agreed, we are also limited in our ability to deploy custom widgets due to server ownership constraints. Having a widget like the one posted on GeoNet's custom widgets (see Popup Panel) would be ideal to post the popup to the side rather than covering features users are trying to simultaneously visualize.
