Hello,

I'm new to ArcGIS Viewer for Flex so please bear with me.

I'd like to keep everything on my local for now while I play around with this tool.  I've kept everything to default, and it automatically changed my machine name to its IP address.  I'm unable to get it past this.  It tells me to "Please check your Web Server Base Folder URL!"  Attached is a screenshot.  Does anybody have any advice?

Thanks in advanced!

Hi guys,

So does that inetpub\wwwroot\flexviewers folder exist?

Might want to change the IP address to the name of your machine. Can you post a screenshot of your IIS Manager directory?

Yes, the folder does exist (see screenshot).

I tried http://localhost/flexviewers/ , but had no luck.

IIS Manager ... ummm, I do not think I have IIS Manager (I looked where it would be for Windows 7).  I appreciate your patience, I am a student and this is quite new for me.

Any additional suggestions?  Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for your response. The inetpub\wwwroot\flexviewers folder does exist on my machine.  See attachment.

As for changing the IP address to the name of my machine, I have changed it to that and it didn't work.  I even named it "localhost" and it didn't work.  I've run out of things that I could possibly name my machine that would make it work.  Attached is a screenshot of my IIS Manager directory.  It is empty...

Again, thank you for your help!

I didn't have IIS Manager on my machine either, but I believe you can download it from Microsoft for free.  Read up on it here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=2299.

Good luck!  I hope we can get this working soon...

I was able to get it past the Settings page by copying the exact same path in Web Server Base Folder to Web Server Base Folder URL.  I'm sure this can't be right?

I've tried putting in every possible path under the Web Server Base Folder URL and was only able to get it to get past the error after doing what I did above.  Any thoughts?

Malcolm,

So you have gone to "programs and Feature" in control panel (on Win 7) and then "Turn Windows features on or off" and ensured you actually have IIS (Internet Information Services) installed (because it is not installed by default)? This is all part of the getting started documentation:

I actually didn't have IIS on my computer.  I had to install it after trying to locate it then and discovered I didn't have it.  I don't have Windows 7.  I have XP.  I do have IIS6 under Control Panel, Administrative Tools.  See attached.

Malcolm,

So now that you have IIS installed and have restarted your computer are  your issues still there?
