I have a water utility network, where when i tried to perform trace, the water flows in in two ways, which got me wondering having a corporation stop as a fitting wont water be stopped? because i just wanted to know what all the possible ways the Geometric trace and Utility trace differs, so I am attaching both the screenshots.

It depends on your path to the controller. If is a mesh, like a pressurize system, both directions have a path to the controller and you have indeterminate flow. Flow direction defined by the edge is not available until 3.3. Run a controller trace, does that provide a single path or both?

when i run the subnetwork controller trace seems like trace is completed but only the subnetwork controller gets highlighted.
Now run a path trace, between the controller and your point. Put a barrier on the line to the left of your trace location, does it show a path the other direction?
Its rerouting and going through the other possible way.
Then the trace results are correct, there is a path from directions to that location.
