Change the label of a value after it is initially selected

I have a large list of codes (1000 or so) separated into 2 categories, New and Repeat. Once a code is chosen (New), it needs to be moved into the Repeat category. Is there a way to do this via the field app?

Yes. Within the choices worksheet, I have a long list of codes (list_codes) that are a selection based on the list_new_or_recapture category. What I need is a way to automate or streamline changing the designation of a code from New to Recapture once it has been used.
