Let us create a survey from a service in another portal

I have feature layer that points to a service in another portal. (It is my service and I have full power over it.)

What I'd like to do is use Connect to create a survey from this feature layer so that, for example, I can serve it out through ArcGIS Online but have the original table still live on my enterprise portal.

As it currently stands, when I try to do this, I get a "token required" error.

There are two ways to do this:

Add the FS to your AGO account with stored credentials.

Create a collaboration between the portal and AGO and share the item to AGO.

I have to admit I'm out of my depth on this subject, but we use single sign-on and I'm not sure how to store credentials. The other thing is, wouldn't that make anyone doing the survey do it as me?

Also, collaborations are limited to one other portal, last I heard. So, if you have multiple enterprise portals...

As an update, I misunderstood. Collaborations, apparently (so I may still be wrong), are limited between organizations, not portals. So enterprise portals have no limits, but arcgis online organizations can only collaborate with one other organization.
