Hi team,
I'd like to request an option for constraint messages to show up (instantly) when an user incorrectly fills in a field. Currently, users only see these messages when they go to submit the surveys.
To get around this I use 'notes' with relevant conditions. So when an user incorrectly fills in a field - that particular note is shown as a prompt for them to fix the issue then and there.
But, this is can be quite cumbersome when there are multiple constraints. It'll be greatly appreciated - if this could be looked into soon.
Thanks so much,
Gee
Would also really like to see this implemented, for long forms it would be far more intuitive and user friendly
I pushed this up the chain and it has been submitted as an ESRI Enhancement Requests. All the comments in this thread helped make the case for it - the response to some of my other requests was that they would wait until they saw more community engagement. Hopefully this one will get some traction with the developers. Apparently this is already the default behavior in the web app, but not in the field or desktop apps. The desktop app is not explicitly mentioned in the enhancement request, but it seems like they keep it pretty much parallel to the field/mobile app.
"ENH-000163498 - Request to validate ArcGIS Survey123 questions with constraints when the question is populated instead of when the survey is submitted in ArcGIS Survey123 field app."
Thanks @EvanR for pushing this! Would be much easier to have the constraint msg work as many of us expected (show immediately) instead of using dozens of "note" questions. And as you suggested, would also be critical that both desktop and field app work the same.
