StoryMaps Collection's "Copy link" sharing option links to... ???

Today I was testing the sharing options in my StoryMaps Collection and I didn't go beyond the Copy link feature because I don't exactly understand it.

It copies a short url to your clipboard, but where does that url point to?

At first I thought it was a link to the first storymap inside the Collection (the /present?item=1 item), but after some testing I think it actually points to the storymap you are viewing before you click Copy link for the first time. From that moment on no matter if  you navigate to some other storymap or the collection's main page, the url you'll get from clicking the collection's Copy link feature will not change.

Is that intended, is my clipboard playing April's Fool on me, or did I come across a bug?
