Embedding web app story maps, not story maps?

Why does creating a story map through sharing a web map using a template have different embedding capabilities than creating a story map using story map builder?

I ask because often i just build story map directly through sharing Web Maps, yet when i look for resources about embedding story maps (https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-enterprise/uncategorized/embedding-story-maps-in-we...)

the information does not apply to my story map web mapping application...?

there was this little tidbit after scrolling down that revealed "older" story maps
