Today Alternative text for images is shown if the image can’t be loaded, and read if accessibility tool for reading is used, to meet Accessibility standards. Our experience when developing new StoryMaps for our organisation is that this information is useful as a tool tip or similar in addition to image load. It would therefore be great if Alternative text for images in StoryMap could appear as an icon or similar on top of the image as todays Attribution-text does. Thanks in advance!

Hi @AstridEspe1 -- Are you looking to have access to alternative text in the story builder or when viewing published stories (or both)?

Do you have any examples you can share of other websites or publishing platforms that provide access to alternative text to sighted readers in the way you describe?

Hi @OwenGeo , and thanks for asking. Both, but if priority is necessary, at least when viewing published stories. We aim to make this standard for our homepage, www.rogfk.no, and preferably other publishing tools we use to inform the public, like StoryMaps.

Here is one example (in Norwegian): https://www.rogfk.no/vare-tjenester/natur-klima-og-miljo/aktuelt-natur-klima-og-miljo/sok-stotte-til...

Great idea @AstridEspe1! It would be wonderful to be able to have a tooltip or similar that shows Alt Text at least on the development side. When reviewing, it's cumbersome to have to select the Options menu and then the Properties tab to review the Alt Text.
