Edge of Kernel Density Output Inheriting "Low" Values

I am creating an index from a series of half mile hex centroids which each have values corresponding to "good" and "bad" outcomes. When I run the kernel density tool, I receive an output such as the one in the first attached image. After clipping, you can see that the edge of my study area looks like the second attached image. The edge seems to be inheriting the low values outside of the study extent, making the entire edge of my study area appear to have "bad" outcomes, when in reality they should inherit the value of the hex centroid nearest to them.

My question is: how can I prevent this from happening and / or how do I correct the output in an efficient manner?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!
