Determine x,y distance between points

I have 2 points (x,y) that represent the opposing endpoints for a single runway.  I have a series of points with x and y coordinates and I would like to determine the distance these points are away from a particular runway endpoint.  The key is that the x,y distances must be determined (A) along the extended runway centerline and (B) the distance either left or right from the centerline.  Is there a tool to perform this task? Thanks

Not a guru, by any means! But I see a partial solution. If any points are beyond the ends of the runway, you would have to make an extended line version first. Use Near to calculate the perpendicular distance to the runway and the location of that point, then you'll have to figure out how to calculate the along-runway distance.
