In the February 2025 release of ArcGIS Online, exciting new functionality was introduced that will make it easier to communicate the results of an environmental screening. The Near Me widget in Experience Builder now supports exporting results as a PDF! Whether you’re using the Environmental Review solution or your own app, you can start taking advantage of this functionality today.
What does it mean?
As part of the Environmental Review solution, the Environmental Screening app uses the Near Me widget to find and summarize potential impacts. Prior to the update, a custom print service was required to generate a PDF report of the screening results. Now, you can easily create a PDF report through the Near Me widget. The report will include a title, map, legend and Near Me analysis results. Watch the short video below to see it in action.
How does it work?
Once layers are configured for analysis in the Near Me widget, you can find and analyze features within a specified distance of a location. If export is allowed on the feature layer, the option to export results will be available. With the new export functionality, you will now see the option to Export to PDF. Within the Near Me widget configuration, you can choose the fields that are included in the exported PDF and optionally include their approximate distance.
