ArcGISRuntimeSamplesDesktopViewer not showing basemaps

Hi, I'm having trouble getting the basemaps to display in the github sample (arcgis-runtime-samples-dotnet).  I'm clicking on Mapping > Switch Basemaps > Streets.  It does not show anything in the map.

I installed the Runtime SDK.

I've downloaded the sample-data folder.

Using Visual Studio 2013.

I'm guessing it should show...

"http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Street_Map/MapServer"

Which I can access from a browser.

Any suggestions?

Regarding my proxy issue at work, I tried .net runtime versions 10.2.6, 10.2.5 and 10.2.4 with a simple app that shows the world street basemap, and I get :

System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: Proxy Authorization Required

I don't have this issue at home, where there's no proxy.  So I guess I'll work with our infrastructure group.
