How to Create a non-military Custom Dictionary Renderer?

Hi -

I'd like to create a custom dictionary renderer from scratch for non-military use.

The "Tips for creating custom dictionaries" I see is this:

I'd like to create something similar to the Restaurant stylx ... it seems odd to just make a copy of a sample though.

Update: I just found @ThadTilton 's blog post.  It was prior to Pro 2.7.  Is there anything new to streamline this workflow?
