Our company just purchased extremely capable computers, and ArcPro is still ridiculously slow. For example, just turning labels on and off on the grids require minutes of wait time and/or crashes. We are working locally.

What do the future of ArcPro version updates involve? Is esri team focusing on speed? It is coming to the point where we are looking at other options. We hope we can stay in the ESRI ecosystem, but this is becoming unsustainable.

Can you run this tool: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/get-started/pro-performance-tool-overview.htm

Another doc to review: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/get-started/machine-performance-optimization.htm

What are the specs of the computers, and the version of Pro installed?

Is the local data in a file geodatabase or other?

Have you tried disabling indexing? In the past, I've suspected that helped, although it wasn't conclusive.

Why does the ArcGISIndexingServer.exe use a high amount of computer memory?

Hey Bud,

I believe this helped somewhat. Not really that noticeable though.

Another thing to check: Disable OneDrive syncing in Windows and ensure that none of the paths in Pro are OneDrive paths or are being synced to the cloud in any way. That has stung me in the past.

This blog article was last updated in 2024 and has some great resources to address slow performances - Troubleshooting Performance Issues in ArcGIS Pro - if none of these work, I recommend contacting Esri Support Services to create a case and work with an analyst to better troubleshoot this.
