I am new to ArcGIS. I am using ArcGIS Pro 2.9.0. I tried to get flow direction from my DEM raster cells.
When I applied flow direction to my filled DEM raster cells, ArcGIS output the right eight valid output directions. However, when I tried to use flow direction to my original DEM raster cells (without prior applying the fill tool), ArcGIS output other values aside from the eight values.
What do those extra values represent? At first, I thought those values meant the sink points. However, when I used the sink tool, those cells did not match up.
I want to know if anyone know what those extra values mean and whether I can use flow direction without filling in my DEM because I want to preserve my sink cells and still get the eight valid output direction (1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128)
