I am using ArcGIS Pro 2.4 to sort records in a polygon attribute table. I get different orderings when I sort values and when I sort values after changing the display format (e.g., show 2 decimal places, pad with zeroes). This unexpected (and unwanted) behavior suggests ArcGIS is sorting my data as they appear in my table view AND NOT as I have them stored (double).
For comparison, I sorted the same data in Excel (before and after formatting the display precision of my columns). Excel returns the same and correct order regardless of how I change the display precision.

Why is ArcGIS sorting my table view and not the actual data?
