Unwanted flashing layers in ArcGIS Pro animation export.

I am working on a 3D fly-through animation using the scene viewer in ArcGIS Pro 1.3.1, and moved one of my point layers to be in the "3D Layers" group in the table of contents, so that I could show those points as vertical billboard-type symbols. When I export the animation to .avi or .mp4 all of the layers flash/blink/change size like a strobe light. I imagine it's something to do with my point layer not have z values but I'm not sure. I have those points set up with Billboard (full) rotation, and "absolute" anchor points, where the y-value is between -20 and -50 so that the icons float above the landscape. Would anything else be causing the unwanted flashing in the video export? Attached is a screenshot of the map and my table of contents.

Working with arcGIS pro 2.6.0 and am also getting a flicker when I export an animation.

Suggested fix from an Esri dev:

  • Select “ground” and change the color to fully transparent.
  • Then do your export again.  The flickering goes away!
  • Apparently the flickering is due to some non-determinism in the z-order of the drawing of the ground surface vs. the layers painted on them.
