crank up pro and check your environment first

Thanks Dan. I did have to remove an environment from Pro to get the command prompt to find the right env. However, when I run the Python Command Prompt (as admin) I still get the error below. I think I am done trying to install spyder. I'll just keep using PyScripter.

never seen that, that is a conda issue when it was trying to download libspatialindex...bz2

.

And you don't run "python" from there... python has to run a batch file.

I too give up. I CANNOT get spyder of any version to install with 2.5. I've done more clean-clean uninstalls of the entire environment than I care to remember, I've done via Python command line, i've tried over and over again with the stupid package manager. I just want my Spyder IDE. The most recent failure of trying to install from the command line corrupted my cloned environment and all the jupyter labs & extensions all ruined. I've tried tech support and the analyst is convinced it is because of my (work at home) internet speed!

None of this should be so hard! Hours upon hours wasted again!

Spyder was the IDE I was using when I got in to Python so I am fond of it. However, it has been a complete waste of my time for the better part of a year.

VSCode + Jupyter notebook works for me. I do miss the variable explorer. There is something like it in VSCode but it is hard to read because of the color scheme. That is my only complaint.

Unless you have some very specific need cut your losses.

Wish I could narrow down your problems...

I just installed Spyder 4.1.3 in ArcGIS Pro Beta 1.

no clone, installed in the base environment using conda install spyder --no-pin.

I install in a simple path ( c:\ arc_pro ) and I have never had install problems.

Admin of my machine, installed for myself (not all users).
