I have a map with feature layers that contain a link to a PDF or TIF. When using the "Map to KML" tool, it downloads all of the files that have these links. So, when I export a map with nine layers, I expect a file about 3 MB in size. When finished, the KMZ size is about 1.8 GB and contains all the PDFs and TIFs. This has never happened before. Has the tool changed? Where is the option to NOT include these files?
So, I am using Pro 3.14. According to Layer To KML (Conversion)—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation
Input features with attachments will be included in the output .kmz file. Be aware of the following conditions for attachments in .kmz files:
Attachments will not be included if the output is a .kml file.
I believe this is different than what was happening in the past. I have used the "Map to KML" tool many, many times and it has never pulled linked PDF or TIF files. Also, the part "Attachments will not be included if the output is a .kml file." is not true. I exported one layer with attachments to KML using the "Layer to KML" tool and it included all the attachments. For KML files you have to Uncheck the "Maintain Attachments" box under the Environments tab.
Where can we request to have this checkbox for the "Map to KML" tool?
