When I try to print to one of our printers from my layout in PRO, I get "unknown." Printing to this same printer from ArcMap works fine as always. When I tried to print to a .pdf, it just kept spinning for an hour while I was at lunch! The layout is from a map series, but I definitely checked the box to just print the one page. I just read one post from a User that said printing from PRO is "inviting the devil." Actually for my purposes, I'd be able to use the print to .pdf, but can't even get that to work.

I'm unaware of any known issue that fits the description of your issue. Its likely that you are running into a specific bug that needs troubleshooting. Can you contact Esri Support? In the meantime are you able to EXPORT to PDF and then print the PDF from Acrobat?
