I'm trying to label a series of rivers, which are multiple small features with shared attributes.
I have connect features turned on,
and it's mostly working great, except that the labels refuse to draw at anything like the midpoint of the longer feature.
How can I get this label to properly draw across the length of the river? They keep ending up squished at the end, and they really don't have to be.
I've tried every main labelling strategy so far (Street, river, etc.)
Thanks!
Just an idea, is that river one continuous line feature or is made of multiple lines? Seems like you're implying multiples.
If multiples, you may want to try using the "remove duplicate labels" option.
I tried that with no luck, unfortunately.
I will follow to see if you find a solution, as I have not.
I ended up making a new FC (River_Labels) and either copied the center section to it, or just digitized a new generalized line where I wanted the labels to go.
Seems whenever I got close with the label engine, it would scrunch them, not honor the downstream direction, etc. so I went this route. Fortunately, we don't get many "new" rivers around here, so I don't have to keep updating it 🙂
