Get/select by attributes of Annotation feature classes using Pro Tasks?

Hi folks, I'm working in Pro 2.4 and trying to create Task that will:

1. Create a definition query based on an attribute value that will be defined by user input each time the task is run, and

2. Zoom to the features included in the definition query results.

I thought I would be able to configure a step command to use the 'Get Attributes' option for this (Actions > Edit Command > Get Attributes > Add Attribute). However, with the 'Add Attributes' button, I can only select attributes from the non-annotation feature classes in my map project.

I also noticed that on the 'Contents' tab of the task designer, my Annotation layer (called 'Anno' in the attached pic) does not have options for toggling the selection/editing/snapping/labeling states for this particular step.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something about annotations feature classes in general that do not play well with tasks? The annotation layer is in the same file geodatabase as all the other layers in my project.

Thanks for any insight!
